  rubadub; sorry i didn't get into sodom and gomorrah. but i know the daniel books says they are NOW NOT SURE IF THEY ARE GOING TO GET RESSURECTED, plus i didn't have all the research in front of me. as he was asking me for wt publications. but i had him going wacky on the no small pox shots. with a little history of small pox and measles and other plagues. he lost straight out 1935 convention and the other sheep ( bread and wine) but i sure he will look up the 1934 year book pg. 130-145 about how the wt was kissing hitler's ass. i basically finished him on the generation of 1914. but that was after asked him what christian was buried under a pyramid in 1916. ten more minutes in this subject and he was lost. told him to get his divine plan of the ages chart. i forgot we argueed about alternitive serv. in the military. he had a rough time. john

  in short; i ask him about the rev. climax at hand book setting him up like a bowling pin. he loves the books and tells me it's all truth. i start going into "MILLIONS NOW LIVING WILL NEVER DIE" AND INTO THE 1919 1922 conventions at cedar point . he says those conventions proved the name jehovah. till i started telling him about 1925 ( he says he knows about 1925) so i ask him how can you call what they were teaching in 1922 truth from jah. when you know or say you know . the jehovah never said a word about the 70 jubiles happening in 1925. he seemed to know a lot about clayton woodworth (editor of the golden age mag.) so i went into the quack medical cures woodworth printed as coming from the holy sprit . how he was possesed by demons for 2 weeks. then into the special donation for BETH SIRIM. SO ISSAC jacob and abraham etc. could live in san diego. he didn't like that. i'm on the move now. i tell him about miricle oil, the radio desease killer, radium biola eye glasses etc. all sold at the 22 convention. he's getting dumbfounded, and I let him know he's in over his head. but i don't stop . he tells me he know this stuff. to make a long story short. i keep asking him. how can you knowing all this stuff. run an assembly hall. and stand up and lie every weekend telling 1000's of jw's that want to serve god in honesty. that what the the wt prints is truth when you and i know , that the guys in the writing dept. are bald face liars. why don't you stand up at the tuesday night book study and tell the facts (truth) about what you know. is it the free car? free apt? the green hand shakes? etc. so in the end you lie to your brothers to live off the sweat of thier backs. there was much more, this guy was no dope, and he surprised me on his knowledge of wt history. but i kept pounding him on how christ hates a knowledgable false witness. for over an hour. i'm sure he got my point and clearly understanded what i was saying. in the end all he could say is that i couldn't change what he believed. but i told him he already knows the facts. only your conscience can help you. if you have one.... john

  Fallacy of the "Light gets brighter" Teaching

  this is by no means a complete discussion of the subject but i will start it with my thoughts and i hope those smarter than me will contribute.. the wt teaches that the changes in doctrine and their understanding of the scriptures over the years is because as we get nearer the end of this system the "light gets brighter" or god allows(?

  ) a better understanding.

  this is based off the scripture proverbs 4:18 which states.

  rassillion: any time a jw uses prov. 4;18 on me i go straight to prov. 4:19. then ask them was ther ANY LIGHT. in the world was to end 1874-78 1910- 1914-15 (pick your date or false prophecy/teaching) then i MAKE THE JW SAY YES THERE WAS NO LIGHT IN THAT TEACHING.. then i give them a SHOVEL, and watch them dig thier own grave trying to talk their way out of what they just admitted was DARKNESS. there is no LIGHT IN DARKNESS. AGAIN THERE IS NO LIGHT IN DARKNESS, and that's the reason the wts has STUMBLED FOR THE LAST 130 YEARS . IT'S ALL DARKNESS. ( AND I RUN DOWN THE LIST) . great way to SHUT UP ANY DUB. GLAD YOU BROUGHT IT UP. because it works every time. and that's a fact. boy i could talk about this for weeks on end. but i can't type for my own good. GREAT TOPIC AND RESPONSE TO ANY JW. john

  Death of a generation

  terry's thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/7/127651/1.ashx got me to thinking about this.. one of the characteristics of the wts is to "weather the storm" of a major disappointment, and, as evidenced by the last two major cycles, count on the death (as much in a literal sense as a figurative one) of the generation of jws that went through that debacle...and thence to recommence with the eschatological emphasis as if nothing had happened.. the post-1925 period is perhaps even more exemplative of this than the post-1914 period, because a good many bible students, grasping at every straw to salvage their belief system, swallowed the chronological recalculations and jubilee-cycle antitype interpretations, which extended 1914 to 1925. but 1925 was the last straw for most of them.

  it initiated a major revolt among the rank-and-file (and especially the elders...the leaders of "that generation") which haunted the wts for the next 20 years, and a chronological review of the watchtower articles and books during the entire rutherford period shows a preoccupation with vilifying those who dared to remind of that debacle.. with the 50s came a major expansion in the wts, and a consequent dilution of that disillusioned group.

  those that were still alive, and who were still jws, had by that time invested so much of their lives into that way of life that...well, how could they find the muster to dump off 40 years of life energy and say, finally, "well, i was wrong, wasn't i?

  Wanderer: good topic. i have found jw's to be very UNEDUCATED in what they believe. i stood up to every elder P.O. C.o. bethelite they COULD FIND . this went on for a few years 1998-2002. I only did a few months if reaseach. on the wts and bible topics. as the questions were asked of me. I can honestly say, next to no jw HEAVY HITTER they put in front of me, lasted more than 30 minutes. i pissed off most all of them. aND MADE THEM LOOK LIKE DOPES. the pleasure of talkin g to a 50 year jw is making him look like a stupid recording machine. with no facts. if you know how to do it. it's easier than taking candy from a baby. i'm sure i'm one of the best . at making any jw shit in their pants. john

  in montreal, canada in late dec. jean-claude lavoie refused a blood transfusion and died.

  his decision has split his family apart--the father respecting his son's decision.

  his brother, jonathan, a former jehovah's witness has since launched an internet campaign calling on the government to make it illegal for a person to refuse blood transfusions on religious grounds.
